Zygomatic Implants

At Sleep Dentistry Melbourne, we understand that many patients experience bone loss in their upper jaw, making traditional dental implants difficult or even impossible. Zygomatic implants provide a solution for these cases.

What are Zygomatic Implants?

Zygomatic implants are a type of dental implant designed for patients who have experienced bone loss in their upper jaw. Unlike traditional implants anchored in the jawbone, zygomatic implants are secured into the zygomatic bone, also known as the cheekbone.

The zygomatic bone is denser and more durable than the jawbone, allowing these implants to provide a stable foundation for dental restorations, even in patients who lack sufficient bone in their upper jaw. They are very easy to spot as they are much longer than standard implants.

Zygomatic Implants at Sleep Dentistry Melbourne

Zygomatic Implants are considered an 'add on' for the All On 4 Plus® treatment. Zygomatic implants are used if a patient has poor or thinning bone and is a commonly used implant. All On 4 Plus® treatment is completed under a general anaesthetic, meaning that you won't be awake for the surgery. You can read more about this under All On 4 Plus®.
